Roisin McEvoy

Acting Director, Queen's University Belfast

Biography

Roisin has worked in higher education since her beginnings as an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Politics, Auckland University, New Zealand in 1995.  In 2002, she took up a lecturing post in the UNESCO Centre, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland where she worked on a wide range of UN, UKAid (formerly DFID) and Irish Aid government funded global education projects.  In 2009 she was appointed to the role of Director of International Development at the University of Ulster, followed by her appointment in 2012 to the Head of International Student Experience role.  In 2017, she left international related work to lead on the establishment and consolidation of a centralised Admissions Service to support the delivery of Ulster University’s strategic plan.  In 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, she moved to Queens University, Belfast to take up the Head of Admissions and Access Service role there.

Roisin has served on a wide range of international development, education and third sector bodies, including membership of the Executive Committee for BUILA – the British Universities International Liaison Association (2012-2017) and Executive Membership (2009-2012) and Chair (2010-2012) of CADA – the Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies in Northern Ireland.  She is currently the Chair of the UCAS Northern Ireland Standing Group Committee and a member of UCAS Council, Northern Ireland representative.  Throughout her varied career in higher education, she has always been firmly committed to working to promote and support access to and the provision of quality education at all levels, locally and globally.
