I am the Service Improvement and Evaluation Data Science Lead for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, an Honorary Associate Research Fellow with the Peninsula Collaboration for Health Operational Research and Data Science and a Health Service Modelling Associates (HSMA) Programme Mentor with the Applied Research Collaboration Southwest Peninsula.
My job is to provide strategic guidance using data science technics, teach best practices on analytics, provide research links between healthcare and universities and lead on the Somerset Integrated Care Systems data science strategy. As part of my HSMA involvement I mentor students learning about data science, helping them to undertake projects in the workplace.
I studied my first apprenticeship when I was 16 in business administration and since then I have accumulated 14 years’ experience working in the NHS across Acute Hospitals, Community and Ambulance Services, particularly in positions around Research, Analysis and Data Science. In 2019 I won a Tech Industry Gold award for my work predicting the pandemic trajectories and creating a demand led resourcing tool for the Southwestern Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
In 2018 I began a four-year Digital Technology Solutions Degree (BSc) Apprenticeship with a specialism in Analytics at the University of Exeter.
