This session will guide Teachers and College Counsellors on how to advise and prepare their students in advance of results day so that students are informed and confident in their options on how to either confirm or change their university choices using the UCAS system’s Confirmation and Clearing processes.
We will also share our expectations as a Higher Education provider on the divisions of responsibility, what is up to the student to action, and how teachers can advise, throughout the final stages of the UCAS undergraduate application process. Expectations and limitations on the involvement of agents, parents and guardians will also be explained.
Learning outcomes:
In depth explanation of the UCAS processes and options available to students after results day
Advance preparation recommendations that can cut down or eliminate workload during school vacation periods, reducing stress for teaching colleagues and students
Sharing expectations of responsibility between students and advisors
Examples of best practice recommendations
