Andrea leads on student personal development, behaviour, and attitude for Leeds City College, a large general FE college with over 20,000 students, including young people and adult students. With social mobility at the heart of the college mission and purpose, and a destination-led approach to student experience, she leads strategically across college on careers guidance, work experience, employability, student enrichment, safeguarding, mental health and wellbeing, and student financial support. Andrea is senior leader for equality and diversity and is passionate about creating an environment which supports students to overcome barriers to achieving their aspirations, embedding a restorative and inclusive culture.
After graduating in social policy and administration, Andrea trained as a careers adviser and worked in varied roles in Leeds Careers Service, before moving on to Boston Spa School as a careers co-ordinator. Andrea joined the AimHigher team in 2003, and led cross-city initiatives to widen participation in higher education, before joining the 14-19 service with Leeds City Council, developing and embedding the Leeds Pathways website and online application process. She also worked in commissioning and contract management of Connexions Services in Leeds.
Andrea is a school governor/Local Accountability Board member at Leeds City Academy, part of the White Rose Academies Trust, and the Yorkshire and Humberside convener for the National Association of Managers of Student Services.
