Durham UniversityBA Accounting and Finance with Business placement (N302)Hi! I’m a fourth-year Accounting and Finance student, originally from Morocco. Last year, I completed a placement in Real Estate Finance, which gave me great insights into the industry. Outside of academics, I have a passion for dancing, fitness, and cooking, and I’m also deeply interested in sustainability. I love connecting with people who share similar interests and am always happy to chat about university life, career aspirations, or just a good recipe! -
Sophie
Durham UniversityBSc Geography (F800)I am a first year undergraduate Geography student apart of John Snow College. I grew up in a small rural village and therefore know what its like moving to a city from a place with poor connectivity. I enjoy running, cooking and being in the outdoors but am also someone who enjoys a cosy night in! I like to meet new people, explore new places and learn about different cultures. My top activity is visiting a cafe with friends. I am apart of a number of different society, both within my college and university wide, such as DU coffee society and John Snow Running Society. My favourite area of geography is where physical and human geography intersect. Despite not knowing the direct career path I wish to take, my goal is to work in a job where I am helping others, either through interaction with individuals or policy-making. I am a very giving and open person, and am always happy to help! -

Mia
Durham UniversityBA Modern Languages and Cultures (R002)Hey! I’m Mia, a Modern Languages and Cultures (MLAC) Undergraduate. I am currently in my first year here at Durham University and I am a part of the Josephine Butler College family. More specifically, I study Spanish (post A-level) and Italian (beginners) at Durham and I am loving learning both languages in such a beautiful city. When I am not watching a Spanish series on Netflix or following an Italian influencer online you would probably find me taking part in some of Durham’s societies. I am a proud member and college representative of the 93% club, a volunteer and Spanish representative for MLAC Outreach and also part of the Hispanic and Italian societies. Feel free to ask me about these (or any other) societies here at Durham if this is something you might be interested in. I hope to answer all of your questions relating to university and Durham, no matter how big or small they may be. Please ask away! -

Ben
Durham UniversityMChem Chemistry (Industrial Project) (F111)Hey, I'm Ben and I've been studying Chemistry at Durham Uni for the past 3 years. After doing all three sciences up to A-Level I found Chemistry to be my favourite, and Durham University has been fantastic for allowing me to explore it in depth whilst still contextualising it in terms of its wider impact. As a result, I've got an industrial placement lined up next year working for Johnson Matthey, where I'll be part of a research team focused around catalysis. Feel free to drop me a message with any questions about Durham's Chemistry course or about anything in general in terms of studying and living in Durham, and I'll try my best to answer them! -
Evie

Audrey
Durham UniversityBA English Literature (Q300)Hi! I'm Audrey, a year 2 English Literature student from Hong Kong. My college is St. Mary's, and I highly recommend it - most of the friends I've made here are from Mary's as well, the community is very nice in general (I'm currently involved in the Book Club, but there are so many more societies!), and the cherry blossoms are beautiful in the spring. I'm open to discussing anything about Durham, from adjusting to the teaching and learning methods from a non-A-levels background, to the collegiate system, to food and weather (it actually rains less than you think). I'm also one of the student representatives for the English Department, so feel free to approach me with any questions about the degree! -
Yoyo
Durham UniversityBA Archaeology (F400)Hi! I'm Yoyo and I'm a third and final year undergraduate student doing BA Archaeology. I'm from Hong Kong, but my family and I moved to Durham since June 2022. I'm currently in St. John's College but I live outside of college this year (I stayed in college in first year). I also did the International Foundation Year in Durham. I am happy to answer any questions everyone may have! -

Durham UniversityBA Combined Honours in Social Sciences (LMV0)Hello, I am Sharon, I am currently a first-year student studying at Trevelyan college. For my A Levels I chose politics, English literature and sociology, and now I study the Combined Honours in Social Sciences course. As part of this course, I mainly study politics and sociology but I also do a module in criminology and international relations. Counties of the North East
Durham
County town Durham is one of the UK’s most picturesque cities. Its two staples – the cathedral and castle – were among the world’s first UNESCO World Heritage sites. The cathedral might look familiar, having stood in for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.
The High Force waterfall in the Durham Dales is well worth a visit.
Northumberland
Northumberland has lots to explore, from castles and historical market towns.
Its coastline and the jaw dropping North Pennines are both designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you love animals, take a boat ride past to spot puffins on Coquet Island, off the coast of Amble.
Tyne & Wear
You'll find lively communities, football fans, nightlife, and art venues – including The Glasshouse and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
You'll also have peaceful beaches and seaside towns nearby, like Tynemouth and South Shields.
