Summary

Admissions staff are challenged with the task to identify the applicants with the potential to succeed at their university. You want to be sure that you are making fair decisions and ensuring access remains inclusive to students regardless of their background, while focusing resources on students who are most likely to meet entrance requirements.

This session will provide an opportunity to understand the role and changing landscape of admissions tests and reflect on current partnerships with universities both in the UK and around the world. Attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas and provide challenge to the role and content of admissions tests.

Learning outcomes

  • To understand the purpose of admissions tests, and the differences in admissions tests available both in the UK and around the world.
  • To provide challenge to both the core principles underpinning admissions tests, such as inclusivity, and their place in the admissions process.
