Jenny was recently appointed Higher and Degree Apprenticeships Officer for the DANCOP central team (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Collaborative Outreach Programme), as part of the HEFCE funded National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP).
NCOP aims to identify and address issues around progression to higher education. In particular, it seeks to undertake outreach activity in specific local areas where HE participation is low overall, and lower than expected given GCSE attainment levels.
Jenny has extensive experience in the post-16 market, with knowledge and understanding of career and HE choices, traditional routes, and higher and degree apprenticeships. She has knowledge of a range of professional and technical progression routes, and understands the opportunities that higher and degree apprenticeships offer to a range of sectors, coupled with an understanding of how they may change the graduate recruitment market.
Jenny works to change perceptions by offering help to senior leadership teams, teachers, parents, and young people in NCOP target wards, to see the positive impact and future growth of higher and degree apprenticeships. She recently started working collaboratively across the Midlands NCOPs offering CPD sessions, helping more young people see this route as a serious way of gaining higher level qualifications at the same time as creating social mobility, and being able to access a range of occupations which individuals may never have considered.
