An enduring passion for history led Stephen to study four university-level degrees in his twenties (BA, MA and PhD History, and PG Diploma in Archives and Records Management). His studies led him to practise in archives and record-keeping, which focus on the management and preservation of institutional and social memory, and, since 2014, in university recruitment at Warwick – where he meets students and parents who are making important decisions about their future studies.
Stephen believes deeply in the role a university education can have in challenging long-held assumptions, framing vital questions, and building transferable skills that can make a difference in the wider world – assets that are common to the humanities, and the subject of his talk at this year’s conference.
