Amanda has worked as Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer at the University of Huddersfield for over ten years. Before this, she worked in other higher and further education organisations. Her role allows her to engage with prospective students, parents, teachers, and advisers to raise awareness of higher education. This is done in a variety of ways, such as presentations, workshops, careers fairs, UCAS exhibitions, and campus visits.
Her job is very varied, and she enjoys working with young people, especially when she can see how the work done may change their perception of higher education! Encouraging young people to enter higher education through the work she does gives her a great sense of achievement.
Amanda is also Vice Chair (Training & Partnerships) of HELOA’s (Higher Education Liaison Officers’ Association) North East, Yorkshire and the Humber Group. Her role includes planning interesting and engaging training sessions for group meetings, where 19 higher education providers from the region are represented.
