What works in careers and enterprise?

Breakout session
This breakout session will benefit school careers leads, particularly those at the new or intermediate level.

Summary

In this session, Professor Tristram Hooley will set out the up-to-date evidence on running effective school careers programme. He will summarise key findings from The Careers and Enterprise Company’s ‘What works?’ series, and draw out the implications for schools. He will also introduce schools to the free Compass tool, which can support them to audit and develop their provision.

Learning outcomes

Delegates will:

  • Be able to articulate the value of a well organised careers programme, and the short and long-term benefits for their students.
  • Be able to describe the way effective careers programmes are organised in other schools.
  • Choose the most useful activities and interventions for their students, based on the evidence.
