Summary

This session will be most suitable for those new to their current post or those needing a refresher on the work of the UCAS Verification Team, and the methods used to combat fraud and plagiarism in the applications process. The session will begin with a presentation covering the history of the team, its remit, operational procedures, and plans for future development.

This will be followed by an interactive component where delegates will get to see a variety of forged documents, and pick up some useful hints and tips.

The aim is for colleagues to bring their own ideas and suggestions, so UCAS and its providers can become a more effective force in the fight against fraud and plagiarism.

Learning outcomes:

  • Knowledge of the history of the verification team, and an understanding of their role.
  • Gain a basic understanding of the verification process, and key tips for verification of applicants.
  • Awareness of updates on future developments that will support the verification process.
