Student support
Life at Manchester Met is exciting, with lots of new experiences and opportunities to explore. But it’s also a time when you may need a little extra help now and then. That’s why we offer a range of support services to help you get the right help at the right time.
- Our Study Skills team provides support throughout your academic journey. They are accessible online or on campus, providing short courses, group workshops, and one-to-one appointments. mmu.ac.uk/support
- Most courses offer our peer-assisted learning programme, PAL. It’s a friendly online community where you can connect with students from a higher-year group on the same course called PAL Leaders. In PAL sessions, you get a safe space to ask questions, get clarity on past lectures, boost your confidence ahead of exams, and make new friends. Outside of PAL sessions, you can live chat with Manchester Met’s Peer Guides. These are current students who are available online to answer real-time questions and share their experiences. mmu.ac.uk/pal
- Our Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service offers support to help you make the most of your time at university. We provide confidential, professional help and advice for any personal issues through one-to-one appointments, group workshops, self-help articles, podcasts and more. mmu.ac.uk/wellbeing
- MMU Sport provides fitness support through a free Active Campus Programme and the MCR Met Moves app, where you can earn rewards for staying active. mmu.ac.uk/sport
- Our Chaplaincy team offers pastoral care and tranquil spaces for prayer or reflection, welcoming individuals of all faiths or non-faith backgrounds. mmu.ac.uk/chaplaincy
- Our Disability Service provides support to anyone facing challenges due to disability, health conditions, or specific learning difficulties. We offer guidance on available resources within the University and from external agencies. mmu.ac.uk/disability
- Our inclusion service provides specialist support and advice to those of you who are care leavers, carers, estranged from your family, pregnant or under 18. We understand that university life can bring particular challenges, and we are here to help. Find out more about our service pledge on our website. mmu.ac.uk/inclusion
- Our Student Hubs are the perfect places to get advice. Start with your Digital Student Hub to get instant answers to hundreds of questions, then either submit an online enquiry, phone our helpline or go to a hub in the Business School or the Brooks building to chat with a friendly adviser. mmu.ac.uk/support
- For international students, our Language Centre offers free British Council-accredited intensive courses in academic English to support academic studies. mmu.ac.uk/languagecentre
