About us

Our university in one of the UK's biggest, youngest and most exciting cities is a place where you can thrive, make new friends, discover new places and cultures, and really expand your horizons. With award-winning support, including giving all full-time, UK undergraduates £5,000 which doesn’t have to be paid back, we have one of the most richly diverse student bodies anywhere and pride ourselves on our inclusive community.

Our students go on to become passionate engineers, teachers, leaders, builders, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, business and financial entrepreneurs, food and nutrition experts, psychologists, designers, health and social care leaders, sports therapists, and digital innovators. We are marketing, tourism, hospitality and aviation management specialists.

We have invested £200 million into our seven campuses, and we were voted the highest ranking university in the region at the 2024 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, as voted for by students themselves.

We've Got Your Back

Birmingham is a place of culture. We pride ourselves on welcoming all students and ensuring we provide you with the tools to succeed. We offer award-winning support, state-of-the-art facilities and a range of placement opportunities.

What makes us different

A smaller university, but with big industry connections, we are committed to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed in a supportive environment. Our students vouch for this and this year, we were voted best in the region for student support, as well as postgraduate and international, at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

Our Centre for Academic Skills and English (CASE) provides 1-2-1 tailored academic support, and through HIRED, students can tap into placements through our network of over 1,000 employer partners.

We also offer first-class mental health and wellbeing, disability and neurodiversity support, as well as a range of financial support through scholarships and bursaries, including our free £5,000 Cost of Living Allowance to help students with expenses.

Easily connected to the rest of the UK and the world, our location is also a draw for students as we are surrounded by booming businesses, green spaces, vibrant nightlife and a mix of cultures right on our doorstep.
