Student life
Many of our students choose Bangor because of the small and friendly nature of the University and the town. Most of our buildings and halls are a short walk from the city centre.
The Students' Union, Undeb Bangor, offers a whole range of support, guidance and opportunities for students, such as volunteering. The Students’ Union also provides much of the focus for student activities and entertainment. You can try something new or get together with people who have the same interests as you.
There’s no getting away from it – the location, the scenery and the surrounding area are amongst the reasons why many of our students choose to come to Bangor. As well as the many attractions of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, you can take time away from your studies by going on a relaxing stroll down Bangor pier, visit the beautiful beaches of Anglesey, or nearby historic towns and scenic villages.
Campus and facilities
Both our student villages are within walking distance of the University buildings. Our Accommodation is modern, comfortable, and convenient and is the ideal way to settle into student life. All new undergraduate applicants who apply within the given timeframe are guaranteed a room at one of our two accommodation villages (conditions apply).
As a resident in University accommodation, you can take part in our Campus Life events programme which includes kayaking, mountain walks, film nights, music events, pizza parties and life skills workshops.
Academi, the official student club, is the place for night-time socialising. Bar Uno, on the Ffriddoedd student village and Barlows, on the St Mary’s are other popular venues for students.
The University’s Pontio is a landmark building which links Bangor University and the community which surrounds it. In addition to providing a base for the Students’ Union, Pontio houses a cinema, theatre, lecture theatres, social learning spaces and places to eat.
