At any given time, The Courtauld hosts a population of 400-plus students ranging from BA to PhD; our small size means that you can meet students from all courses and years. We have about 150-60 undergraduates, close to 200 students on our taught post-graduate programmes and around half that number of PhDs.
Courtauld students come from all four corners of the globe. Some have studied the history of art before their arrival, others have not – but everyone shares the same passion for the subject.
Students’ UnionThe Courtauld boasts a very active Students’ Union, with a full fortnight of events planned for the enrollment and induction period. Courtauld students also enjoy membership of the University of London Student Central, which draws on thirty-one institutions.
The Courtauld is located in historic Somerset House on The Strand, right in the heart of London’s West End. One of the world’s most dynamic cities, London is a global hub for cultural, business, political, media, legal and sporting events that attract the best from around the world. This central location gives students easy access to some of the city’s best-known museums and galleries, including the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum (not to mention The Courtauld’s own gallery).
Mercer’s Worldwide Cost of Living Survey has consistently cited London as one of the most expensive cities in the world; however, London is very student-friendly, and your cost of living as a student will depend largely upon your lifestyle choices.
