About us

How can we help build your future? That is the question at the heart of everything we do at UEA. We understand you are unique, providing space and opportunities to develop your skills. We want our students to know they are a part of something bigger. To belong, to find your community and your cause. Innovation is our DNA and our beautiful campus, with 320 acres of open space, was designed with a vision: to create the ideal community environment. To build a place where work and life are perfectly balanced. To combine cutting-edge technology spaces for learning and a natural, picturesque habitat. To ensure that productivity and inspiration can thrive. Our students are passionate about making changes whether through research, medicine or discovering lost shipwrecks. We are ranked UK Top 25 (Complete University Guide 2024) and UK Top 30 (The Times/Sunday Times 2024) as well as World Top 300 (QS World University Rankings 2024). Come and find your place with us!

A hub, a home. This is UEA.

Breathe. Take it all in. Just look around you. This is what university should be. A place of vibrant contrasts, UEA was built differently from day one to help foster the minds of tomorrow. A hub and a home, we are designed so living, thinking and ideas can overlap. From a buzzing campus to a safe supportive culture, iconic architecture in acres of beautiful parkland, world-leading research alongside world-class artists, this is us. You’ll feel a part of it from day one and it will stay with you, long after you leave.

What makes us different

Thinking Without Borders is the name we’ve given to the combined projects happening at UEA. It describes our approach to bringing together disciplines in new and exciting ways to address existing and emerging global challenges. We have some of the world’s finest facilities and brightest minds working together every day to discover new ways to change the world for the better. Whether it’s through policy change, research and development of technology, working with organisations like the British Red Cross to get clean water to children, or contributing to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) with trusted climate change data. Research at UEA doesn’t happen in isolation – it’s not just teachers and students tinkering with ideas. This is the combination of many departments, organisations, companies, industries, groups and individuals working together and providing real insights and solutions to critical global problems.
