Our science PhD places are usually offered on a full-time basis. Studentship funding is typically for a period of 4 years.

There are two main routes to applying for clinicians wishing to undertake a research degree. We have a number of clinical PhD fellowships through our ICR and Imperial Clinical Academic Training Partnership, funded by Cancer Research UK. These prestigious fellowships aim to support the training of future clinical academic leaders in cancer research. Other PhD opportunities for clinicians will be advertised on an ad-hoc basis.

All research students work towards obtaining a PhD which they are awarded upon successful completion of research project, including thesis submission and final viva.

The MSc in Oncology is is for medically qualified candidates who currently work in the NHS (or a similar clinical service provider) and plan to complete Specialist Registrar training. The course adopts a modular, credit accumulation model.
