Christie’s Education is a specialist provider of postgraduate higher education and continuing education in the fields of art history, art business, curating and connoisseurship which places great importance on the practical experience of art through education as the key to professional success. Founded in London in 1978, it is a for-profit institution wholly owned by the Christie’s International PLC group of companies (Christie’s).
London
Christie’s Education was founded in London in 1978. The campus is situated in the heart of London, between Regent’s Park, the British Museum, The Wallace Collection and The National Gallery. Christie’s Education Limited is approved by The Open University as an appropriate organisation to offer higher education programmes leading to Open University validated awards. Christie's Education London offers a Master’s degree (MSc) and Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Art, Law and Business, and a continuing education programme.
New York
Founded in 1993, Christie’s Education New York is located in Rockefeller Center, alongside Christie's auction house, at 1230 Avenue of the Americas, based on the 20th Floor. Christie's Education New York was originally located in Midtown Manhattan and moved in August 2016 to be closer to the auction house. Christie's Education New York is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education in their capacity as a nationally recognised accrediting agency. Christie’s Education New York carries out the Christie’s Education commitment to direct contact with original works of art through visits to Christie’s salerooms and well as private and public collections. Christie's Education New York offers a Master of Arts degree and continuing education program including certificates and short courses.
Hong Kong
Christie’s Education Hong Kong first offered courses to coincide with the major international sales and fairs in the late 1990s and in 2010 launched the `Introduction to the International Art Market’ series, followed by a series of short courses. Following on from this success, Christie’s and CEIBS (China Europe International Business School) joined together to launch the international programme: Global Art Market: Collecting and Investment.
Dubai
Christie’s Education Dubai encourages and supports educational opportunities and holds exhibitions, educational seminars and charity auctions throughout the Middle East. In October 2013, Christie’s Education Dubai held its first course: An Introduction to the International Art Market. This series focuses on both international and local themes, with exclusive access to private collections, personal tours and discussions with leading artists, curators and gallery owners.
