Student support

We’re committed to making sure our students have everything they need to realise their full potential.

There’s always somewhere to turn with 24/7 student support, 365 days a year.

You don’t need to worry about what support is available, or where to go when you need help. You have one point of contact, The Student Hub. Through The Student Hub, you’ll have access to the specialist team for your specific situation.

There are teams in place to support you on anything from wellbeing and finance, to accommodation and disability support.

Our wellbeing team are available on campus face to face, no matter what time of day or night you need them. There’s also onsite support in halls.

The Students’ Union (SUSU) are also here to support you, with advisers offering free confidential and independent advice, including student finance, housing or academic issues.

You’ll also have a Personal Academic Tutor who will support you through each year of your studies, as well as provide career guidance tailored to your field.

We’re committed to making the future of university education a fairer place for everyone. We offer tailored support for students from under-represented backgrounds, from guidance to bursaries, mentoring and pastoral support.

The rising cost of living is affecting everyone, but we know students are disproportionately affected by it. In addition to the usual funds and bursaries, we’ve rolled out some specific support designed to help students stay focused on their studies, not their finances.

Every year we review our initiatives to make sure they’re supporting students the best they can, for example there's: a tech grant to help if you are unable to access the kit you need to study, and a commuter fund to help fund travel costs if you’re living at home. There are subsidised food outlets at all our campuses and access to free and low-cost food, and SUSU put on plenty of free and low-cost events and activities throughout the year.

Through the Student Hub you can develop your money management skills, apply for financial help from support funds, chat to financial advisers or get peer-to-peer support from the Student Money Champions.
