We're committed to prioritising our students' mental health and wellbeing, taking a whole university approach to ensure that help is available, whenever and wherever its needed.
Studying here, you can access a range of support depending on the impact an issue is having on you. This ranges from informal pastoral support delivered by our Students' Union, chaplaincy centre and colleges to wellbeing advice, projects and activities delivered by specialist support staff within our Student Wellbeing Service at Lancaster. You decide what support you need, as ultimately you are the expert on your needs and any issues that may be impacting you.
Student Wellbeing Service
Our Student Wellbeing Service can support you with a variety of different things, from signposting about university life and support services to providing advice and guidance for common issues and situations you may have to navigate as a student. This can include:
- Building a healthy routine
- Combatting procrastination
- Managing stress and anxiety
This team offers a range of free services from a phone line and live chat to daily wellbeing drop-ins, and sessions with a wellbeing advisor. So, whatever you feel you need, our team can accommodate you.
Further to this, our Student Mental Health Service consists of qualified mental health practitioners and administrators employed by the university. There are options to talk to this team in one-off appointments should you need help working through a problem or if you feel you need further support.
Disability and Inclusive Practice Services
Our Disability and Inclusive Practice Services are here to support you in your transition into university life. They provide specialist advice, guidance, activities and events for disabled students, care leavers, estranged students and student carers.
College Advisor Teams
Our College Advisor Teams are a friendly face on-campus that you can go to if you feel like you need to chat about feeling homesick, relationships, or money related worries.
Cost of living
Our on-campus money advisor can help you to budget and manage your money.
We offer a range of scholarships and bursaries towards tuition fees and the cost of living.
Chaplaincy
At the heart of our campus, you'll find our multi-faith chaplaincy centre. Whether you follow a faith or not, the centre is a place for everyone, offering spaces for community, mindfulness, prayer and more.
They offer one-to-one pastoral support for a range of topics specialising in supporting students through bereavement and loss.
LUSU Advice
Lancaster University Students' Union (LUSU) Advice Service can provide free, confidential advice on anything that's concerning a student – from your course and exams to budgeting, health and wellbeing, and much more.
Academic support
At Lancaster, you’ll have a strong network of academic support. This includes one-to-one sessions with academic advisors, faculty librarians to help you make the most of our library resources, and Learning Development teams which help students develop their academic skills and reach their full potential.
