Join Winnie Kutsime-Chigwedere in this Subject Spotlight as she dives deep into how nurses provide critical care for patients with asthma. She begins by giving an overview of holistic nursing care, discussing what it encompasses and the role of nurses within holistic care. Winnie then turns her attention to asthma, explaining what it is, its causes and triggers, and what happens during an asthma attack. She then looks in depth at how nurses respond to asthma patients, introducing the A-E nursing assessment, discussing pharmacological intervention, and giving an overview of patient evaluation. Finally, Winnie gets you to apply all your knowledge to make recommendations for two asthma patients, from a holistic nursing perspective.

Winnie Kutsime-Chigwedere

Winnie Kutsime-Chigwedere is an Assistant Professor on the MSc Adult Nursing Blended and professional CPD courses at Coventry university. She has been qualified as a registered adult nurse for over 20 years and has worked in various disciplines ranging from critical care, emergency department and community settings. Winnie moved to teach nursing at university to allow her to continue working as a nurse while sharing the wealth of expertise and knowledge she has acquired over the years to develop our nurses of the future.
