My name is Kimaro Novat Kairuntu, a PhD student at the University of Essex in the UK. My educational background is a blend of economics and mathematics, with a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines. I advanced my expertise by earning an MSc in Applied Mathematics, where I deepened my understanding of complex mathematical concepts and their real-world applications. Currently, my PhD research focuses on financial derivatives, a field that combines my passion for mathematical modeling with practical financial applications.
Looking ahead, my career plans involve advancing the intersection of applied mathematics and finance, particularly in financial derivatives. My educational journey and professional experiences have provided me with a strong foundation to contribute meaningfully to both academia and industry. I am eager to develop innovative research and practical solutions that address financial challenges.
My passion lies in the intricate domain of financial derivatives, where applied mathematics is essential for creating models that predict market behavior and manage financial risk. I am particularly drawn to how mathematical theories can be transformed into tools that enhance decision-making in the financial industry. Hi! I'm Crystal, a second-year MSci Computer Science and Mathematics student with a special interest in Data Science and ML. 

When I started university, I wasn’t entirely sure about my future career path. However, through various opportunities at university, I’ve developed a strong passion for data science and I now feel much more confident about the direction I want to take in my career.

Often spotted around campus carrying badminton rackets because nothing beats badminton after a long day for stress-relief... On my off days I explore places nearby Lancaster, play games with my friends and try out new recipes. Whenever I get homesick, I make Malaysian chicken curry (and it's perfect for winter).

I specialised in Microeconomics and Statistics in my undergraduate degree and am now specialising in Medical Statistics. I hope to work as a statistician in the medical field once I have finished my masters.

My favourite modules in my degree would be the physical and organic modules in chemistry, additionally calculus and differentiation have also been modules I have enjoyed these past 2 years at Uni. I am a musical theatre fan who was in the society last year and is now the Choreographer of the society this year that I do in my spare time and started badminton this year that I go to every week.
