Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry [BSc/MSci]

After doing my A levels in Chemistry, Maths, and Psychology, I wasn't sure what to do next. I chose to come to Glasgow because of the flexibility they offered with their degree plans; I initially enrolled in a Psychology degree, but have since changed my degree to Chemistry! Next year, I will be on a placement year in Industry, and I hope to work in research in the future! I love studying in Glasgow, and am happy to answer any questions you may have :)

Hi! I'm Harry and I'm a UG Chemistry student at Castle. I am an active member of Castle JCR, and I'm involved in numerous peer support projects here at Durham. I am the current president of the Disabilities and Carers Society and I rebuilt the Castle Pride Society from scratch, introducing the college's gender affirmation fund.

I enjoy going to the gym and playing video games in my free time away from my degree. I am currently training for a half-marathon.

I am hoping to transition to a career in engineering when I graduate, as I often work in this industry over my summers away from Durham. I initially started on biology and chemistry natural sciences and I now specialise in physical chemistry, I have taken a year out and transferred colleges so I have definitely taken the scenic route! I have academic specialism in computational chemistry and quantum mechanics, materials, and fluid chemistry.

I remember how scared I was of applying to university and settling in, so please feel free to ask any questions about my course, or wider university life in general!

I am a 2nd Chemistry and mathematics student at the university of Lincoln originally from a town in London. My favourite modules in my degree would be the physical and organic modules in chemistry, additionally calculus and differentiation have also been modules I have enjoyed these past 2 years at Uni. I am a musical theatre fan who was in the society last year and is now the Choreographer of the society this year that I do in my spare time and started badminton this year that I go to every week. The social life in Lincoln outside of studying is so exciting. I enjoy going out shopping and going on nights out with my friends and seeing the beautiful sights of the city.

Hi, I’m a fourth year chemist currently on an industrial placement at GSK. I am currently applying to PhDs in chemical biology. I hope that I will go into a research based career in chemistry bases upon the knowledge I have gained in pure chemistry and biological chemistry modules I have done at Durham University and my placement year at GSK. I also have found doing a variety of sports and volunteering at University very rewarding.
