Growing up in the Solomon Islands, I've always felt a deep connection to the ocean. This passion led me to pursue an LLM in International Trade and Maritime Law here at the University of Essex. My goal is to ensure sustainable maritime practices and address legal challenges like cybersecurity threats and autonomous vessels. I aim to start as a regulatory compliance specialist and eventually become a policy advisor, shaping trade policies that protect our marine environment. The University of Essex's supportive environment and expert faculty make it the perfect place to achieve these goals and make a meaningful impact on our oceans.

Hi! I'm Holly, a first-year studying Law with American Studies, and I'm happy to answer your questions :) I previously did law at A-level where I found a real passion for the subject and decided to study it at University, which so far has been great as I've met some brilliant people who share my interest for the subject, but have also made great friends elsewhere, such as in my flat! My course also allows me to do a study abroad year which I am very excited about. I aspire to be a law professor or go into practice as a solicitor, but I am still not 100% sure!

My future career plans are to become a Barrister (if I move back to England) or an Advocate (if I remain in Scotland) once I've completed my Law degree. I didn't know anyone else coming to Scotland for university, but having previously done cheerleading, I decided to join the cheerleading society, and have met most of my university friends through there! Finding the motivation can sometimes be hard, but I enjoy rewarding my long hours in the library with a break at a local coffee shop.

I’m a passionate and ambitious law student with a strong interest in social justice and the climate crisis. I believe in using the law as a tool for positive change, and I’m always up for a good debate on corporate accountability and environmental policies!
Outside of my studies, I’m a bit of a nerd—I love video games, anime, and nothing beats a good, cold classic chess game. When I’m not deep in a legal case or a fantasy world, you’ll probably find me hiking, soaking in nature, or sketching landscapes, capturing every moment with just a pencil.
