Hi, my name is Phoebe! I am currently in the final year of my BSc Biomedical Science (NHS Placement Year) degree at the University of Essex. I haven't set my mind on specifically what I'd like to do after my degree, but I know I'd like a job working within the biomedical field. During my first year at uni, I chose to live on campus (Colchester Campus) in South Courts, but during the following years I commuted from home, so I am happy to answer questions about both. The campus accommodates for however you're feeling e.g. from spending some time relaxing at the lakes, quiet study spots and places to grab coffee to SU events, sports teams & societies and even a nightclub! Hi ! I’m a 3rd-year undergraduate student studying Sports Therapy at the University of Essex. I started my journey here at just 17 years old, moving not only to an entirely new country but adjusting to living alone was a challenge, but along the way, I’ve picked up some tips and tricks that I’d love to share with you because I know how hard it can be.

I am a second-year PhD student in Film Studies, with a research focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and documentary filmmaking, particularly through the use of oral histories. My work explores how AI can be applied to enhance and transform traditional documentary storytelling, examining both its creative potential and ethical considerations. I’m especially interested in how AI can help preserve and interpret personal narratives, expanding the ways we capture and share human experiences. My goal is to push the boundaries of documentary film by integrating innovative technologies while respecting the rich history of the genre.

My educational journey has taken me across Southern Africa, with my O Levels in Zimbabwe and A Levels in South Africa, giving me a rich and diverse perspective both inside and outside the classroom.

Beyond my academics, I’m passionate about sports, fitness, wellness, entrepreneurship, and community engagement—I believe in living a balanced life and giving back to those around me.
