Postgraduate Research Global Sustainable Development

I am a postgraduate research candidate in the Global Sustainable Development Department, School for Cross-faculty Studies at the University of Warwick. Awarded a Chancellor's International Scholarship by the Doctoral College at the University of Warwick to undertake my research focusing on the nexus between women empowerment and ecotourism in protected areas in sub-Saharan Africa. I have worked in academia for over 10 years, and currently I am a senior lecturer at Mzuzu University, a public university in Malawi. My responsibilities, among others, include lecturing, research supervision, and leadership. I am passionate about working in higher education and conducting research.

I grew up in a vibrant city along the Yangtze River in central-southern China, where I developed a strong interest in finance and technology. After earning my degree in Accounting, I worked at China Merchants Bank, the largest joint-stock commercial bank in China, gaining experience in fintech, credit analysis, and risk assessment.

Now, as a postgraduate student at Warwick Business School, I am exploring the intersection of digital innovation, AI, and business transformation. I am particularly passionate about AI-generated visuals and AI voice synthesis, having followed the field since the early Disco Diffusion era. I also love exploring emerging technologies and own VR devices, AR equipment, and AI-powered smart glasses, constantly experimenting with new innovations.

Beyond technology, I am a poetry enthusiast, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, William Blake, and Percy Bysshe Shelley. Their works fuel my creativity and curiosity.

Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a career at the intersection of AI, fintech, and digital transformation, leveraging emerging technologies to drive innovation in business. I am currently a postgraduate student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Warwick, with a strong passion for innovation at the intersection of technology, neuroscience, and mental health. My master's dissertation focuses on monitoring psychological stress and mental well-being using physiological signals, reflecting my deep interest in harnessing engineering solutions to address mental health challenges.

Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a PhD, and I am currently exploring opportunities in neuroscience, neural engineering, and mental health research. I am particularly fascinated by how physiological data can enhance our understanding of the brain, improve mental health interventions, and contribute to more effective, personalised treatments.

Beyond academics, I am eager to support and inspire prospective students, sharing insights about my journey and the exciting possibilities within biomedical engineering and interdisciplinary research.
