Hi, I’m Dallas. I study Spanish and German at Chester and I’m in my second year. My dream job is to work as a translator or interpreter and one day have my own translation company. In my free time, I’m always dancing (my favourite styles are tap and hip-hop) and I am part of the cheerleading society here at Chester. Feel free to ask me any questions about the Languages and Cultures department or anything to do with life at Chester University.

I plan to do a Masters in Translation at Essex and become a translator or interpreter. Dance is however my biggest passion and I am part of a few competition teams at the University's dance club.
Mia
Durham University
BA Modern Languages and Cultures (R002)
Hey! I’m Mia, a Modern Languages and Cultures (MLAC) Undergraduate. I am currently in my first year here at Durham University and I am a part of the Josephine Butler College family. More specifically, I study Spanish (post A-level) and Italian (beginners) at Durham and I am loving learning both languages in such a beautiful city. When I am not watching a Spanish series on Netflix or following an Italian influencer online you would probably find me taking part in some of Durham’s societies. I am a proud member and college representative of the 93% club, a volunteer and Spanish representative for MLAC Outreach and also part of the Hispanic and Italian societies. Feel free to ask me about these (or any other) societies here at Durham if this is something you might be interested in. I hope to answer all of your questions relating to university and Durham, no matter how big or small they may be. Please ask away!

BA Modern Languages and History
When I leave University I would love to be a teacher and I hope to teach on my year abroad. I love learning languages and next year, along with Spanish, I'm going to be learning British Sign Language. I love to read and that makes researching quite fun for history. I've found the style of learning in University much better than learning in school! I'm the President of the Pop Culture Society and the Welcome Team leader of the Christian Union:).

I'm a 3rd year student at the University of Essex. I came straight from Sixth Form, and although it has been a big step, I have really enjoyed it. In my first year, I lived on campus in student accommodation, so if you have any questions about student accommodation feel free to ask! I was part of the Essex Blades Ballet competition team, which was a great experience as I had never competed in dance before, and I now coach the team! Please let me know if you have any questions about studying and life at the University of Essex.

Hi! I'm Nella. I'm from the East Coast of Spain and the Black Forest in Germany. I moved to Edinburgh for a volunteering gap year after finishing high school, and I liked Scotland so much I decided to stay! Moving to the North-East was a big change, but one of my favourite things to do now is to explore Aberdeen and the shire and find out about local events and all goings-on.

I love the idea of teaching English in South Korea. I have spent much time in Seoul and Busan over the past 2 years and would love the opportunity to move more permanently. As an avid history lover, Korea's expansive history fascinates me! I am a massive fan of BTS, and my bias is Jimin! I am learning to speak Korean and will participate in a summer school in Seoul this summer to expand my language knowledge further. In my spare time I enjoy creating content for my Instagram which consists of BTS, lifestyle and travel!

English Language & Linguistics [MA]
As a child of immigrants, I have always paid attention to the news, regardless if I thought it be interesting or not, because I had family living under a tyrannic government. This constant attention to news channels, whether that be on the TV or written, became a part of my daily life, naturally. And so, my passion for information and to enable others to be cognizant of certain situations, injustices, etc. transpired. This passion grew over time and by the age of 7, it had transformed into wanting to become an investigative journalist and write everything I experienced and how it differs from other personal experiences.

Hi! I started at Reading in 2021 and have loved every minute! Transitioning straight from sixth form to uni definitely felt like a big step but knowing other people were in the same boat as me was very reassuring. I moved here from a small town and now love the mixture of beautiful campus and bustling town centre. Helping others has always been a passion of mine so doing a course which works towards a career dedicated to this is super rewarding, and I would love to work with children in the future. I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have so ask away!
