Jess
University of GlasgowGeology [BSc/MSci]Hey! I’m Jess, a fourth year undergraduate Geology student with hopes to go into the fields of either volcanology, geotechnical engineering or the energy sector. I come from the Lake District in the UK which probably led to my interest in geology and the environment as well as growing up watching disaster films such as Dante’s peak leading to an interest in natural disasters (particularly volcanoes). I have A-levels in geology, geography and environmental science and have studied geography as an elective subject alongside my degree. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have :) Keshav
Durham UniversityBSc Geology (F600)Hello! My name is Keshav, and I'm a first year, studying Bsc Climate Science. I was originally born in Germany, but have been living in England for over 8 years. I'm excited to share my story with you and help you get a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. I'm currently studying Climate Science, because of the interconnection they have between Geology and Geography. I found it difficult to decide which one I preferred, and felt that this course had the best of both world's. Taking modules in both subjects always keep it fresh and interesting. So far, my favourite subjects have been understanding some of the difficulties we have in dealing with climate change, and the current importance of mitigation and adaption. One of my favourite experiences has been to engage with world leading professors, who are currently dealing with several issues on climate. Group work sessions are also great, as you get to make friends with people across the world, learning about different cultures and traditions along the way. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, playing music, and watching sports. If you have made it this far, I can tell that you are interested! I hope this gives you a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me, and I will be happy to help.
