University of StrathclydeFaculty of Humanities and Social SciencesHi! I am a fourth year Psychology and Counselling student from London. The most significant aspect of my journey to Strathclyde was that a few years ago, I was enrolled at a different university, on an entirely different course than I am now. I can completely resonate with feelings of being unsure of your future, your direction, and not knowing where you can go to ask questions freely. In my latter years of school, I felt like there was no significant pull to any which subject or university, and so when starting university, I struggled to know whether I had made the right choice. When I started to feel as though Psychology was more what I wanted to study, I felt at first like I had no options, and had gone in the wrong direction for my future with no way to redirect myself. I then realised that this experience was valuable, as I learnt about myself, and what I wanted in a university, course, and campus. Strathclyde was my number one university from the moment I looked into it as for me, it ticked all my boxes. I reapplied to UCAS and here I am now! As for my course, I started feeling as though Psychology and Counselling would suit me as in addition to my interest in multiple strands of psychology, including Neuropsychology and Behaviourism specifically, I believe mental health is an increasingly important topic of discussion. I feel very strongly that current education and resources provided, particularly to young people, require critical improvement that is long overdue. I chose a degree within which I can take my first steps towards entering a profession, such as a counsellor, where I can contribute to the fight for mental health support. For now though, I am enjoying being a student at the University of Strathclyde! Büşra
Bournemouth UniversityDoctor of Philosophy - Faculty of Health and Social SciencesHi! I am an occupational therapist, and a first year student at Bournemouth University. I like reading books, watching comedies and science-fiction movies. It is a pleasure for me to travel sometimes when I have the opportunity. Hui Xin
University of StrathclydeFaculty of Humanities and Social SciencesHi! I'm an international student from Singapore currently studying a joint honours degree course at Strathclyde. I chose to study here at quite the last minute because I changed my mind about what I wanted to pursue and Strathclyde allows me to do joint honours for a combination of subjects which is not offered by most universities. I have been really enjoying my classes so far and I am looking forward to my remaining years ahead at university! Feel free to ask me questions about being an international student, student life, or what it's like in Glasgow :D Jacob
Durham UniversityBA Combined Honours in Social Sciences (LMV0)I am a Durham University student who studied the International Baccalaureate and GCSEs at Scarborough College in North Yorkshire. I am a First Year student studying Combined Honours in Social Sciences. I take modules in Economics, Politics and Spanish. I am a keen sportsman who plays for John Snow College Rugby team and also Team Durham. I am currently unsure about my future career but I am looking into various internships/schemes to gather a greater idea of what I would like to do. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions. Javon
Durham UniversityBA Combined Honours in Social Sciences (LMV0)Hiya! I'm Javon :) Originally from Hong Kong, I've been living in the UK for about 2 years now. I'm a live-in student in University College (Castle), doing a flexible (and really cool!) Combined Honours course in Social Sciences, combining Politics, IR, Human Geography, Sociology, and learning French. Ask me anything about my course, college life, or just share any of your questions or concerns! #heretohelp Johnnie
University of StrathclydeFaculty of Humanities and Social SciencesI am currently studying towards a PhD in History focusing on food culture as an expression of identity in diaspora communities in the UK. I hope to move in to teaching after that though I am also interested in getting involved in areas of social policy so am keen to see where my project takes me. Before returning to education I worked for over 10 years in the sales environment selling a range of products to both public and private sector clients. Lewis

Durham UniversityBA Combined Honours in Social Sciences (LMV0)Hello, I am Sharon, I am currently a first-year student studying at Trevelyan college. For my A Levels I chose politics, English literature and sociology, and now I study the Combined Honours in Social Sciences course. As part of this course, I mainly study politics and sociology but I also do a module in criminology and international relations. I'm still not certain what I want to do in life but I am considering political journalism, civil service or possibly law. I am an avid Taylor Swift fan and am an active member of the Swiftie society here at Durham as well as the Durham Union and the Caledonian society. Feel free to message me anytime any questions you may have about Durham, Trevelyan college or university life in general, I am more than happy to help :) Beca
