Emily
Lancaster UniversityEnvironmental and Earth SciencesHi I’m Emily! I’m in my second year studying Earth and Environmental Science, with the hopes of becoming a volcanologist in the future. I’d swapped from studying Geography last year, so am able to answer questions on either degree. I’ve loved living on campus and in town, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have about the uni or Lancaster in general :) I’m also on the study abroad scheme so can answer any enquiries about this. Isabel
Durham UniversityMSci Earth Sciences (F644)Hi, I'm Isabel - I am a 4th year geophysics student within the department of Earth sciences. I am President of Collingwood College football club and vice-captain of Durham universities Women's 3s. Feel free to give me a message regarding anything Durham from course, colleges, sports, societies and about Durham itself! Kathryn
Lancaster UniversityEnvironmental and Earth SciencesHello! I'm Kathryn and I am an Environmental Science PhD student. I also did a BSc in Environmental Science at Lancaster University. I am researching the chemistry of halogens in the troposphere. Lucy
Lancaster UniversityEnvironmental and Earth SciencesI love musical theatre and going on days out and walks with my friends which there are plenty of in Lancaster! I am thoroughly enjoying my course (Earth and Environmental Science) and I hope to have a career in sustainable energy Sofia

University of PlymouthBSc (Hons) Ocean Science and Marine ConservationHi, I'm Lucy, and I studied Animal Management in Yorkshire before heading to do Ocean Science and Marine Conservation here. It was an unusual way to get into uni but it's all been absolutely worth it! I'd love to be involved in marine megafauna research once I finish here, but right now I'm just enjoying all the opportunities Plymouth has to offer! Dafydd
Bangor UniversityOcean SciencesI am Dafydd, I'm from West Wales and I study Ocean and Geophysics, I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my friends, I have goals of going on to work in the renewable energy sector. Jess
University of GlasgowGeology [BSc/MSci]Hey! I’m Jess, a fourth year undergraduate Geology student with hopes to go into the fields of either volcanology, geotechnical engineering or the energy sector. I come from the Lake District in the UK which probably led to my interest in geology and the environment as well as growing up watching disaster films such as Dante’s peak leading to an interest in natural disasters (particularly volcanoes). I have A-levels in geology, geography and environmental science and have studied geography as an elective subject alongside my degree. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have :) Joseph
Durham UniversityBSc Geoscience (F643)Hi! I'm a final-year student studying BSc Geoscience, with a background in Geography, Physics and Mathematics. My main goal for the future is to contribute to the achievement of the net-zero goals set by the government, whether that be by working for the government or with a private company to support their transition to more sustainable operations. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about my course or the University as a whole! Keira-Grace
Bangor UniversityOcean SciencesI am currently a second year marine biology and zoology student at Bangor university. I am here to offer any advice (coming from someone who wasn't originally sure the university life was for her) from finance, friends or general stress and worries! Looking forward to chatting :) Keshav
Durham UniversityBSc Geology (F600)Hello! My name is Keshav, and I'm a first year, studying Bsc Climate Science. I was originally born in Germany, but have been living in England for over 8 years. I'm excited to share my story with you and help you get a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. I'm currently studying Climate Science, because of the interconnection they have between Geology and Geography. I found it difficult to decide which one I preferred, and felt that this course had the best of both world's. Taking modules in both subjects always keep it fresh and interesting. So far, my favourite subjects have been understanding some of the difficulties we have in dealing with climate change, and the current importance of mitigation and adaption. One of my favourite experiences has been to engage with world leading professors, who are currently dealing with several issues on climate. Group work sessions are also great, as you get to make friends with people across the world, learning about different cultures and traditions along the way. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, playing music, and watching sports. If you have made it this far, I can tell that you are interested! I hope this gives you a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me, and I will be happy to help.

Personal statement advice: architecture, building and planning
If you’re applying for architecture, planning or building, admissions tutors say they need you to outline your reasons for wanting to study the course. Here’s how you do it. The built environment encompasses lots of courses and professions. As the University of Nottingham puts it, you need to 'be as specific as possible about your interests and enthusiasms'.
