Grow your own way with Specsavers

It's more than just helping customers see and hear better by giving expert care. It’s about helping our colleagues see their potential that little bit clearer, every single day.

Here at Specsavers, you can really feel like you’re part of something. Like you can make a difference to people’s lives with the expert care you provide. But in order for you to do that, we make sure that you’re provided with all the care you need to succeed; the support you need to feel confident in your role and have a place you can call home. Most jobs don’t give you the chance to change people’s lives. But at Specsavers, you’ll be able to do this every day, and that can make you feel pretty good. So, why not?

Changing lives, including yours

Thinking about a medical career? Take a look at this. Optometry is more than just glasses. It’s detecting and diagnosing abnormalities and diseases using the latest technology. It’s identifying problems with health – think high blood pressure and diabetes. It’s about changing and saving lives. Interested? If you are, you should see what we have on offer through our Bright Stars university scholarship below.

Thinking about a medical career? Optometry is more than just glasses. It’s detecting and diagnosing abnormalities and diseases using the latest technology. It’s identifying problems with health. It’s about changing and saving lives.

The eyes are incredible organs, that help us to see what’s around us and offer clues to our overall health. Every day, optometrists examine the eyes, offer clinical advice and make diagnoses, looking after our eye health. At Specsavers, our optometrists work with cutting-edge technology to care for patients and make a real difference to people’s lives. And if you choose to become an Optometrist with us the potential for development is huge. Our exclusive university scholarship offers future Optometry students the chance to receive £10,000 over four years, towards the cost of their university experience. It’s aimed at STEM students, with only 40 spots across the UK. It includes paid part-time work at one of our practices, with protected clinical time and mentorship from store colleagues. How does it work? Just register your interest and after you’ve applied for an optometry course at your chosen university, we’ll invite you to join us for The Bright Room. This is an exclusive event, which you’ll need to attend with a parent/guardian. Following the event, we hope to match you with a local practice where you can work part-time and begin to learn more about optometry. Then, when you start university, you’ll receive £2500 each year, over the 4 years of your optometry course. When you finish university, you’ll be a fully qualified optometrist, ready to see where your career at Specsavers could take you.

Testimonials

Joining Specsavers was the best decision

I was supported to develop into the best optometrist. Upon qualifying in 2013, I sat down with my director to make a five-yeah plan and I furthered my Clinical Education and undertook independent prescribing training

I love working at Specsavers. Every day brings a new opportunity.

I’ve been supported to do a variety of roles including secondments to try something new, from HR to more specialist roles, building relationships with people all over the Specsavers globe.

It isn’t just a job

I believe it’s a real change to learn from brilliant professionals and build a solid foundation for my career where there a clear path of progression.
Specsavers supported me through my Hearing Aid Dispenser university course at Anglia Ruskin University. I loved that I left with no student debt, got paid, and still lived near the store I was working in. I really valued the support, as supervisors are on hand through the process, both in-store and Head Office.
