Data-driven vs. teacher-assessed: exploring predicted grade methodologies in the IB diploma
Tuesday 10 June 2025
14:50 - 15:30
Open to all
Summary
This session will explore the various approaches schools use to issue predicted grades for the IB Diploma, analysing different models with examples from multiple institutions.
Exploring the American School of Paris as a case study, the session lead will present a data-driven algorithm implemented in 2018, outlining the policies surrounding predicted grades and their impact. Additionally, they will compare the results of our former teacher-assigned prediction model—commonly used in many schools—to their current data-driven approach.
With the counter-expertise from a well-established UK university, attendees will develop an understanding of how university entry requirement practices have evolved and how they take into account, or not, emerging adviser best practice in distributing and setting predicted grades.
