Tuesday 05 April 2022 16:00 - 17:00
Open to all

Summary

The COVID pandemic presented significant barriers to international student recruitment; namely, virtual outreach, the whole-sale shift to digital learning, social unrest, closed borders, visa uncertainties and geopolitics. This all against the backdrop of increasing global competition for students. The COVID pandemic presented significant barriers to international student recruitment; namely, virtual outreach, the whole-sale shift to digital learning, social unrest, closed borders, visa uncertainties and geopolitics. This all against the backdrop of increasing global competition for students.

However, far from hitting the panic alarm, millions of students have continued to follow their dream of studying overseas. Join this joint UCAS-College Board workshop to learn more, including:

  • International students in numbers – what are the key markets and trends?
  • How did COVID impact on the attractiveness of UK HE? Are this cohort ready for their HE studies?
  • How did the pandemic play out in the US, particularly for internationally mobile students? How did organisations like the College Board respond, and what were the key learnings?

At this session, you’ll hear findings from UCAS’ January report, ‘Where next? The experience of international students connecting to UK higher education’ and have the opportunity to hear new insights about the pathways followed by international students, with the chance to shape our upcoming joint research.
