Summary
The narrowing of equality gaps has largely stalled since 2015. With the anticipated, and significant, upturn in the UK 18-year-old population, and the ‘solace in HE’ effect increasing demand amongst all age groups, there is a real possibility of seeing the gains made in WP evaporate over the next decade. In this session, we’ll take a look at the extent of the attainment gaps amongst different groups and what this might mean for HE admissions in the future.
Learning outcomes:
- Understanding how attainment varies by level of advantage and how the anticipated increase in HE participation will impact sector-wide efforts in widening participation.
