In January 2019, the Department for Education (DfE) released its new teacher recruitment and retention strategy. As part of this, DfE confirmed its intention to launch its own postgraduate teacher training admissions service in England. The pilot for this service went live in November 2019, with a continued roll-out during the 2020/21 recruitment cycle.
From 7 January 2021, the statistics reported by UCAS in Reports A and B reflect the total number of applicants who have applied for postgraduate teacher training provision via either the UCAS service or the DfE service. Prior to this, the statistics reflected applicants to the UCAS service only.
