Transforming Tomorrow Together

Whether it’s sending probes into space, finding new ways to treat cancer, or keeping the organisation running smoothly, we aim to make a real-world difference to people’s lives and the environment around us.

Launched in April 2018, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). We invest in research and innovation to enrich lives, drive economic growth, and create jobs and high-quality public services across the UK. The work our scientists, technologists, engineers, and business support team do is focused on making an impact. Join our Apprentice Program today and get involved!

Testimonials

  • ...something I was always interested in which I now have a career in.

My apprenticeship has been useful as it allowed me to actually experience what engineering is – something I was always interested in which I now have a career in.
  • This is the friendliest workplace I have ever been part of!

Embarking on my apprenticeship journey at STFC has been a dynamic experience, filled with both valuable technical challenges and signification accomplishments. This is the friendliest workplace I have ever been part of!
  • ...understanding of Engineering theory whilst feeling like I am making a difference...

I thoroughly enjoy my role! The diversity of the work and the systems we maintain have enabled me to develop a broad understanding of Engineering theory whilst feeling like I am making a difference to the operation of the highly complex life science research unit.
Some of us have been with the organisation for many years and it’s important that we’re able to transfer that wealth of knowledge to our future workforce generation. Apprenticeships present the perfect channel for this and, as such, are an integral part of our succession planning. The fresh injection of talent, energy and different perspectives that an apprentice brings has had a positive impact in so many ways
